Michael established Mathias Consulting in 2012, prior to that he was COO at Von Roll Holding AG a Swiss based manufacturer of insulation and composite materials, water treatment technology and power transformers. There Michael had global responsibility for the segment insulation and composite (23 manufacturing units and 2500 employees).

In 2009 Michael was GM for Carl Zeiss Microimaging GmbH responsible for Finance, HR, Legal, M&A and Supply Chain.

Before this he worked 7 years for Henkel KGaA in Düsseldorf in the business sector Technologies as Vice President Business Controlling EMEA and LA with an annual revenue of 4 billion Euro.

He started his career at Reemtsma Cigarettenfabriken GmbH in Hamburg where he held positions as segment and regional CFO and corporate-development.
